Is this illusion or reality? I want to live authentically: Laundrin Singapore

Are you a person who is embraces and faces reality, no matter how difficult it might be; or are you someone who believes in escaping to a fictional world for a while?

I know most readers do the latter.

So, when I received this brief from Laundrin Singapore, I was so excited because there’s a lot to think about on the topic of “living authentically”!

The Brief

The event will be centred around the launch of Laundrin’s new tea-scented products, which is their new series of softeners and fabric sprays!

It is held at Ingen Kyoto, where we’re leaning more towards a calm and zen vibe for the event. The team wanted to offer our guests a sensorial journey throughout the event where they can dive deep into their personal thoughts and true feelings, adding a dept to the whole zen concept.

The Client

Laundrin is a premium Japanese homecare and lifestyle brand that offers a wide range of softeners, fabric refreshers, car fragrances, and air fresheners inspired by designer scents. Established in 2013, the brand – known for its high-quality products and innovative formulations – brings to life the concept of personalisation through fragrance to elevate any space with high efficacy and environmentally safe products.

What We Did

A live poetry segment is added for the guests to explore the theme of living authentically, embracing reality as it is without illusion or resistance. It invites them to acknowledge the present moment and fosters a deep sense of connection and community among themselves.

We got back to Laundrin with some prompt cards with questions & keywords. Clients are invited to choose ONE prompt card with a keyword and answer the question! Then, we turn their answers into a poem.

  • Peace

If Peace was a person, what do you most wish to hear from them?

  • Authenticity

What are some things you like to embrace about yourself and reality?

  • Harmony

How do you nurture harmony within yourself and with others?

  • Journey

Where are you at in your journey?

  • Connection

What are some of the ways you like to seek connection with others?

Which card would you choose?

Starlight is billions of years away / a poem

“Say it’s only a paper moon, sailing over a cardboard sea, but it wouldn’t be make-believe, if you believed in me.” —Ella Fitzgerald

When the night falls gentle and serene
I see the starlight upon the stream
Before the dreams of distant seas,
I first see my reflection back at me.

If it’s only fantasy,
If it’s only pretence,
will the illusion of stars
put a balm over my scars?

What if I embrace the winds
that tug against the mast
what if I embrace reality
no matter my past?

Accept the earth,
the stream,
the stars,
the ache,

For starlight is billions of years away,
just because it shines, doesn’t mean its alive
It shines even if its fake
If it does only that, perhaps its okay.
